The Sanders campaign said that it had fired a staff member who breached Mrs. Clinton’s data. But according to three people with direct knowledge of the breach, there were four user accounts associated with the Sanders campaign that ran searches while the security of Mrs. Clinton’s data was compromised.
…
Despite repeated requests, the Sanders campaign did not provide information about the other user accounts that were involved.
Until they find out who the other three users are, the punishment should stand.
Imagine if the Clinton campaign had done this. What would your reaction be? Would it be to proclaim a conspiracy theory? Or would it be to call the Clinton campaign corrupt and call for them to be penalized?
Honestly, this seems to be a common pattern among Clinton-detractors on both the right and the left. Don’t do the work of the GOP for them by demonizing Hillary.
Remember when (some) Sanders supporters thought Bernie Sanders won the first debate because of skewed online polls? According to Sanders supporters, CNN must be owned by Hillary because they declared Hillary the winner, which was contrary to the online polls. Very soon after, though, scientific polls debunked the notion Bernie had won the first debate, becoming one of the many conspiracy theories the Clinton campaign has been wrongly charged with.
I know this comes at a time when your hope was returning — your fundraising goal of 2 million was achieved and you got a recent union endorsement (though Hillary has far more total union endorsements — FYI). But also don’t forget that Hillary received 18 million votes in 2008, beating Obama in the popular vote. That is no small feat and is worth remembering as a cold hard fact.
Oh, and where has Bill been? If the Clintons were truly worried, don’t you think you’d be seeing a lot more of him?
Furthermore, Hillary is up by 30% nationally. Jimmy Fallon just made a joke about it on TV last tonight. But in all honesty — it doesn’t really matter because Hillary will have the majority of the superdelegates regardless of the popular vote.
Currently, Hillary is up by huge margins in the South and other areas outside of progressive havens (remember, 37-states are GOP-controlled right now and the Clintons have deep roots in the South). I think Hillary will win the popular vote (just like she did in 2008) *AND* the majority of superdelegates.
Point is — Clintons chances are pretty high right now. Do you really think this is a conspiracy theory?
And I’ll say it again — all you have to do is imagine what the Sanders camp would be saying right now if the Clinton camp had done the exact same thing.
To me, it appears as though the low-level guy may have been thrown under the bus while the other 3 remain protected? Seems like this may have been the Bernie camp’s strategy when they “confessed.” Hope the Bernie campaign returns the New York Times request for comment regarding the other 3 users.
Until the 3 other users are addressed, the punishment by the DNC should stand.
