63 days til the election, reason #37/100 why we all should vote for Hillary
(Labor Day edition, with a slight holiday delay)
She respects labor unions and they support her.
AFSCME president Lee Saunders calls her "an unstoppable champion for working families." The American Federation of Teachers proclaims "she's ready to work with us to confront the issues that matter most."
Despite some skirmishes with the teachers' union in Arkansas when she was working on school reforms as First Lady there, this mutual respect goes a long way back. While she was in the Senate she earned an 85% rating from the AFL-CIO based on her voting record:
- Allow an Air Traffic Controller's Union. (Jan 2006)
- Voted YES on extending unemployment benefits from 39 weeks to 59 weeks. (Nov 2008)
- Voted NO on terminating legal challenges to English-only job rules. (Mar 2008)
- Voted YES on restricting employer interference in union organizing. (Jun 2007)
- Protect overtime pay protections. (Jun 2003)

Given this history and her current campaign's strong statements on labor, it is no wonder that the list of union endorsements goes on and on.
