The Donald Trump campaign on Saturday released its first "emergency" fund-raising email, in response to an ad blitz from the Hillary Clinton campaign.
"Right now we're facing an emergency goal of $100,000 to help get our ads on the air. We need your contribution by 11:59 P.M. Tonight," the email from Team Trump said."Crooked Hillary is about to invade your TV with ads attacking Mr. Trump. But we're preparing to fight back," it reads.The email promises to release ads attacking Clinton on her role in Benghazi, the integrity of her donors and reported FBI probing of her private email server while secretary of state.
Wow, is this pathetic or what?
Personally, I don’t take this at face value. I think this is a trial balloon that’s been sent up so as to see how much they can actually get off the suckers who are still following Trump, and what geographic areas they can get the most from.
BUT holy shit, how incompetent is this:
First of all, begging for a measly $100K makes Trump look like a third-tier competitor for a city council seat in Scottsdale, AZ. Making it an “Emergency” gives an added scent of desperation.
Secondly, this was Mr. “I’m Really Rich! I Don’t Need Anyone’s Money”. Remember that? How does someone who, by his own estimation, is worth $10bn*, ask for an “emergency goal $100K” likes he’s PBS??
He’ll probably get it. I mean, $100K is not a hell of a lot to raise. Crowdfunding for indie records regularly gets that. But he’s gonna need way more than that for the next 4 ½ months!!!
I can’t help but wonder — if I’m a guy in a red county in a red state who’s voting for Trump because I like his message about bringing back jobs to the US, what do I think about this? I just paid the mortgage, we’re behind on the car payment and the electric bill, my wife just had her hours cut at her job, the kids need new shoes, and I’ve got $208.14 in the bank.
Do I go and contribute to the campaign of the big talking NYC guy who flies around on a jet and says he was going to fund his own campaign????
The Republicans right now have the biggest case of Buyer’s Remorse EVER. Bad enough he’s a racist, xenophobic, misogynist...but he’s BROKE TOO!!
