Hillary's America vs. Trump's America

As Hillary said, Trump doesn’t believe“all Americans are Americans.” Then, after the recent shooting, Trump doubled-down on his Muslim ban. Not only is this ban un-American, it is a dangerous belief that is recruiting more terrorists. Why? Because the terrorists can now point to Trump’s Muslim ban as proof America is “evil,” increasing the likelihood of more domestic terrorism. What Trump doesn’t realize is that the terrorists are hoping we abandon our values in the face of fear. Trump is becoming ISIS’ best recruiter.

Given Trump’s insistence on banning an entire religion as his solution to gun violence, which plays right into the hands of fear, we have a distinct choice in this election: we have a choice between Hillary’s America and Trump’s America.

In Hillary’s America, those who are too dangerous to fly are also too dangerous to buy a gun:

Instead of banning an entire religion, how about we pass common sense gun control so those on the “no-fly” list are unable to buy guns?

In Trump’s America, we will have more shootings.

During the 1990s, President Bill Clinton signed the Brady Bill and the Assaults Weapon Ban. The Clintons had to work within the context of an obstructionist GOP Congress, but still made progress where they could. However, once George W. Bush became President, he took our country backwards. Not only did Bush turn a 236 billion dollar surplus into trillions in deficits, he also let the Assaults Weapons Ban expire.

We could have continued the progress of the 1990s, but too many progressives got comfortable after 8 years of a Democrat in the White House. The same way they are feeling after having Obama in office. But don’t forget what Bush did. And don’t forget what Trump could potentially do to this nation.

Trump would take us down a very dark road. A road where no one is safe. Not even prisoners of war like John McCain, or the physically disabled. Hillary highlights this in her first general election ad:

In Trump’s America, we will divide Americans against each other in support of a demagogue. A propaganda artist. A wannabe-Dictator. This would unleash a very dark time in American history. A time where conspiracy theories, character assassination, and fear triumphs. A time where we would have a deportation force and ban entire religions from our country. Building walls instead of bridges. Allowing a man come to power who delegitimatized the first African-American President by promoting a racist conspiracy theory.

Don’t allow Barack Obama’s legacy fall into the hands of Donald Trump. We must finally build on our progress with a 3rd consecutive Democratic President, something we were so close to doing in the year 2000. Think where our country would be right now if Al Gore had won. He would have never let the Assault Weapons Ban expire.

Don’t let them give us Trump like they gave us Bush. Don’t let Bernie’s legacy become that of Ralph Nader. Because remember: ”Trump doesn’t believe all Americans are Americans.”

“We have got to do something about gun violence in America, and I will take it on.

There are many people who face it and know it, but then turn away because it’s hard. It’s a very political, difficult issue in America. But I believe we are smart enough, we are compassionate enough to figure out how to balance the legitimate Second Amendment rights with preventive measures and control measures so that…we will not see more deaths—needless, senseless deaths. …

There is so much that if guns were not so readily available, if we had universal background checks…that maybe we could prevent this kind of carnage. So I hope that in addition to expressing sympathy for those directly affected, that this is maybe—for the media, for the public, for elected officials, for every American—what it hopefully will finally take for us to act.”
